Bump!

Maybe it's just me, but as soon as I found out that I was pregnant I felt like I LOOKED more and more pregnant every day!
Honestly, it was hard at first to watch my body change so much.  I was constantly comparing what I looked like to other pregnant women. It didn't help that my OB was (and still is) really strict about weight gain and has no problem telling you that you are gaining too much weight too quickly. However, after a few months of obsessing over the weight gain, I decided that stressing over it was more unhealthy for the baby than putting on an extra 5 pounds.  I'm healthy, continue to work out and eat (mostly) healthy and my baby is healthy.

I love this bump! Honestly, being pregnant is great. I love feeling him move and watching Trevor's face as he feels his son move. I've recently been able to see him move- which totally freaked me out the first few times to see my stomach move like that! But now I could sit and watch him all day. I usually lay in bed in the mornings and watch him move for about 30 minutes before getting up. It's fascinating!

We're having a....

Let's just start this post by posting a picture from our 10 week ultrasound!

How cute! I'd like to say that those are legs, but they don't form that early. They sure looks like legs though!

Alright, can I just say... science is amazing! When we went to our 12 weeks appointment, my OB told us about this fancy new test they were offering. Just a simple blood test would tell us if our baby has any genetic disorders and the gender of our baby.  And best of all, it was free! Hmmm... wait 4 more weeks to find out the gender through ultrasound, or find out 4 weeks early?
Now I admit, finding out through a blood test wasn't as exciting as seeing it on an ultrasound, but I'm not a patient person, I wasn't waiting 4 more LOOONG weeks!
We did the blood test and a few days later we had the results back!
We are having a perfectly healthy BOY!
Both Trevor and I were completely shocked! He has been convinced since the day we got married that we would have all girls. I don't know why he thought that...maybe he was just preparing himself just incase. So... I was also convinced that we were having a girl. Maybe this is why we don't do a lot of gambling when we are in Vegas. We suck at betting!

I have to admit, because it was a blood test, I wasn't completely convinced. So I was anxious for our 20 week ultrasound to confirm the blood test results. And sure enough... BOY!

We are beyond thrilled! Trevor has bought him a few Under Armour shirts to match daddy, and of course his first Utes onesie for football season.
Once again, science is AMAZING! It boggles my mind that at our 20 week ultrasound they were able to see our little guys kidneys, measure his brain, look at the chambers of his heart, make sure his spine was developing correctly... all by ultrasound. It's fascinating.

I love this little guy!

Baby Update

Not only are Trevor and I expecting our first baby... but because I suck at blogging and am ridiculously behind - we are already more than half way there! As of today, we are 27 weeks and 4 days- this little one will be here in 12 weeks!

20 week ultrasound

Hopefully I don't jinx myself by saying this, but I have been fortunate enough to have a really good pregnancy. My Rheumatoid Arthritis has thankfully gone into remission, and I feel better than ever. I wish I could stay pregnant forever (minus the getting incredibly huge part) just for the sake of having healthy and painless joints!

There were a handful of days in the first trimester where I had morning sickness, and one incident where I literally threw up out of nowhere in the middle of Harmons (thankfully that hasn't been a regular symptom).  But for the most part I haven't had ANY signs or symptoms of pregnancy.

Most importantly, baby is growing healthy and strong!
